Is your homeschool more restful yet? Is your heart, Mom, growing more restful?

Yes? Praise the Lord!

No? No despairing…He is not finished with you yet!

Perhaps, even after 18 intentional days, you still don’t feel more restful than you did before Day 1. Perhaps you don’t feel any closer to God than you did in the beginning of this journey. There seems to be an invisible wall that you can’t break through to get closer to Him.

Perhaps you are holding onto something that has become a barrier.

Expectations, dreams, plans, hurts, disappointments, idols, guilt, control, anger, unforgiveness – When we stubbornly hold on to them, they can prevent us from getting close to God.

What in your life might be creating the barrier? Will you surrender it today? Will you trust that God’s heart toward you is good? Will you let go?

Will you trust that God rejoices over you, and He wants to pour out His power, love, and joy on you?

“The Lord your God is in your midst, a victorious warrior. He will exult over you with joy, He will be quiet in His love, He will rejoice over you with shouts of joy.”

Zephaniah 3:17 (NASB)

Even when you don’t feel restful, you can rest in His embrace.

Just like moms and children are pulled together when the child stops fighting, so it is with us and God. When we stop fighting, when we surrender, we can rest in His embrace. We can rest knowing His love for us is perfect. We can rest knowing He rejoices over us.

We can rest knowing that He is a warrior who brings victory.

Today’s Heart Challenge:

Surrender your barrier

What in your life is creating a barrier between you and God? What is still preventing rest in your heart?

If you want to get closer to Him, you must let go. Ask Him what is holding you back. Then listen to what He says. Respond by surrendering.

Today’s Homeschool Prayer:

Friends and Fellowship

Is your heart restful with the friends that you, your children, and your family have? Homeschooling can be isolating, but community is key for us to continue and thrive.

In our early years of homeschooling, I prayed for a friend for my son. I sought out co-ops in my search to find boys his age who could identify with our lifestyle of homeschool. God answered my prayer and blessed us with friends and fellowship far beyond what I imagined.

But relationships are not always easy. When my momma heart is not restful when considering our friend relationships, it’s another cue. It is a cue for me to lean in to Jesus and ask Him to provide what we need.

How is your heart?

Seek Jesus first. He can give rest to your heart in the midst.

Write out your prayer as you evaluate, surrender and receive rest with your family’s friends and fellowship.

EVALUATE

  • Ask yourself if this area of your homeschool life is currently restful.
  • Ask God to reveal any cues of unrest in your heart.

SURRENDER

  • Surrender your efforts to fix the problem.
  • Surrender your expectation of the outcome.

RECEIVE

  • Ask God to give you grace and rest in the midst of your current struggle.
  • Ask Him to give you guidance for ONE THING you can do to cultivate rest in this area.

Keep seeking Him first!
