When my heart is overwhelmed, I tend to wander around inside my house accomplishing nothing. I push and pressure my children to be productive. I lose perspective of who I am and what my purpose is.
Have you ever felt the need for a refreshing change of perspective to your day?
“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands.”
Psalm 19:1
The heavens declare God’s glory, and remind us to rest because He is our Creator and Sustainer. So we can step outside and allow our perspective to be changed.
Spend a few minutes outisde, and allow yourself to be reminded.
Take a walk. Sit on the porch. Look at the clouds. Play Frisbee. Go fishing. Chase butterflies. Read in a hammock. Toss a football. Listen to crickets and birds. Weed the garden. Spray the hose. Nap on a quilt. Look at roly-polies. Do nothing.
Remember who you are in light of Who He is. Then receive His rest.
How might God change your perspective and cultivate rest in your heart in just a few minutes outside today?
Today’s Seed of Rest
Go outside.
Simple enough? Sometimes simple seeds are the best.
Just get outside long enough to breathe. Remember Who God is. Remember who you are.
Then return to today’s work.
