I’m grasping tightly to my lifeline today.
My mind and heart are swirling in the midst of my circumstances. I’m barely on day 2 of 31 posts about cultivating a restful heart, and my emotions tempt me to give up hope.
Why should I pursue a restless heart when it feels like a hopeless cause?
But I have a lifeline…an anchor for my soul…a hope that will not disappoint. And I’m clinging to it as if my life depends on it.
Do you ever feel like you’re drowning and a restful heart is beyond reach?
Please tell me I’m not the only one. Perhaps you, too, have days when you resist pursuing rest because you don’t want to be disappointed…again.
These are the days we must defiantly direct our minds to truth.
“Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think…”
Ephesians 3:20a
You see, my hope is not in myself, my mental stability or my physical ability. My hope is in God. He is able. He can perform far more than we can ask, think or even imagine.
You can ask for a more restful heart because He is able.
What would a more restful heart look like in your life? Grab hold of the lifeline of hope. In hope, ask God to do what He is able to do.
We can plant a seed for a restful heart simply by holding onto hope and asking God to transform us.
Today’s Seed of Rest
Write down how you want God to transform your heart this month.
Think of your most unrestful area of life. Ask God to bring His peace and transform your heart in that very place. Write down your request. Yes, write it down. You will want to see this later. Then, ask God to do far more abundantly beyond all you can ask or imagine.
Grab hold of hope that He is able.

Yes! I love this. As I begin my morning I talk with the Lord and ask him to help me be that loving, nurturing mom and wife He calls me to be….only to find that I feel as if I have failed completely before 10am! I want to stretch myself all week to keep my peaceful heart all throughout the day. Even when everything else is anything but peaceful!
