I have never liked the end of a trip or vacation. Vivid memories linger from when I was a young child. I remember a sinking feeling deep inside as we drove out of our annual beach condominium complex. I did not want the adventure and enjoyment to end.

But the end was really the end.

As I write this, I am nearing the end of a trip, a long weekend getaway with my family. Some feelings from childhood remain for an adult. I am not looking forward to the reality of laundry, cooking, cleaning, and teaching that awaits me Monday morning. The trip has been good. A hotel breakfast every morning is a mother’s dream! But the adventure and rest is coming to a close.

Oh, but seeking Jesus for a restful homeschool is not the same!

The end of 21 intentional days is merely the beginning.

Do you realize the word “commencement” that we use to celebrate the end of an academic journey really signifies the beginning? To commence means to begin. So it is with 21 intentional days of seeking Jesus first.

This is not the end of a journey. It really can be the beginning of something wonderful. Having spent 21 days with intentional focus, you have laid the foundation for new habits.

So my challenge for you today is simply to continue. Tomorrow is Day 22, but keep going! Continue seeking after God with everything in you. Continue setting aside time each day to talk with Him. Continue trying something new to draw you closer to His heart. Continue seeking Him first for a restful homeschool.

Pick one new habit, and continue.

God has more in store for you than you can even imagine!

“Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.”

Ephesians 3:20-21 (NASB)

Far. More. Abundantly. Beyond.

  • Those requests you have been praying about? God can do more.
  • That Name you want God to reveal? God can do more.
  • The change you want in your heart? God can do more.

Don’t stop now. You have started an excellent habit. Don’t stop when it is just getting good.

Continue.

Trust God to do far more abundantly beyond all you can imagine.

Today’s Heart Challenge:

Choose one new habit to continue on Day 22

Choose one challenge from the previous 20 days. Repeat today. Decide to repeat again tomorrow on Day 22. And again on Day 23. And Day 24…..

Will you receive this blessing as you continue to intentionally seek Jesus for a restful heart and a restful homeschool?

Open your hands, open your heart, and receive His Word:

“The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make His face shine on you and give you peace. Amen.”

Today’s Homeschool Prayer:

Today

One day at a time.

Jesus cautioned against worrying about the future. So let’s focus on today. Let’s receive God’s rest as a gift of manna, His provision for today.

  • Evaluate – How is your heart right now? Is any area of your homeschool unrestful today? Do any cues of unrest exist in your heart at this moment?
  • Surrender – Surrender your efforts to create true heart rest. Surrender your expectations of today.
  • Receive – Receive God’s grace and rest in the midst of whatever today holds for you. Ask God for guidance in one thing you can do to foster His rest in your family.

Seek Jesus first. He can give rest to your heart in the midst.

Write out your prayer as you evaluate, surrender and receive rest with your homeschool today.

Keep seeking Him first!
